Parents’ General Orientation
The purpose of the orientation is to inform the parents and/or guardians about the school’s philosophy, objectives, vision-mission, core values, Confucian virtues, regulations and policies, the school’s road map, and many more. It is very essential as it helps the parents and/or guardians understand more about PYCS, its learners, faculty, staff, and administrators, and the event is usually commencing a Saturday before the opening of classes or a Saturday a week after the opening of classes.
This activity happens in the social hall or in the school admin lobby for face-to-face setup. For the past three pandemic school years that this activity with the parents and/or guardians was held virtually.
The attendance and presence of all personnel are strictly required.
Learners’ General Orientation
Intensive learners’ general orientation is done during the first week of the school year for the learners to proactively familiarize the vision, mission, philosophy, core-values, and Confucian virtues the school upholds. Deemed to be necessary, the learners have to embrace and to manifest the values, culture, and perspective a certified Yuh Chiauian must possess.
In addition, during the orientation, classroom rules, discipline policies, and academic policies stipulated in the school operation manual are also discussed for them to be properly guided.
Presentation of topic outlines and subject expectations is also done during the orientation.
Parent-Teacher Consultations
Conducting Parent-Teacher Consultations may boost family involvement in the classroom and help promote positive outcomes for the teachers, the learners, and the school. Parent-teacher consultations are usually thrice a school year as stipulated in the school calendar.
A Parent-Teacher Consultation is a great opportunity for the class advisers and the school to:
- Share academic progress and growth based on classroom observations, assessment results, and other learning outcomes,
- Learn from parents and/or guardians about the learners’ strengths, needs, behaviors, and learning styles,
- Discuss enrichment or intervention strategies to support learners’ learning, and
- Discuss issues that may be interfering with learners’ learning and growth.
